Your Eye Examination

Your eyesight is your most precious sense and deserves the highest standards of professional care. Without good vision it is difficult to enjoy most everyday activities, including reading, driving and watching TV. However, an eye examination doesn’t just tell you how long or short sighted you are. An eye examination can also reveal the presence of potentially serious eye diseases such as glaucoma and macular degeneration, or general health problems like diabetes and high blood pressure. The sooner any problem is detected, the greater the chance it can be prevented from developing further.

At Castle Opticians, your initial appointment time is 30 minutes. During this time we will discuss any problems you might have with your eyesight and general health. This will allow us to tailor your eye examination to your specific needs. As part of our on going commitment to advancing our eye examination techniques, we strongly recommend that a digital photograph is taken of the back of your eye. This provides an ongoing visual record of the health of your eye and aids diagnosis of many eye conditions.

At our Benfleet practice we have installed more advanced eye examination equipment and can now offer Optical coherence tomography (OCT) as an extra part of the eye examination. This advanced light based instrument enables us to examine a cross section of the retina at the back of the eye which can help us to detect glaucoma and retinal diseases, such as age-related macular degeneration and diabetic eye disease.
